Billie Eilish has shared her contribution to the forthcoming Barbie movie soundtrack, a song titled “What Was I Made For?” It comes with an Eilish-directed video. In the video, the singer sits at a desk and unpacks doll-sized outfits from a Barbie box. Watch it below.
Eilish co-wrote “What Was I Made For?” with her brother, Finneas, who produced it at his home studio in Los Angeles.
Eilish is one of several big names on the soundtrack to Greta Gerwig’s take on the world of Mattel’s massively popular dolls. Dua Lipa, who plays a Barbie mermaid in the movie, contributed “Dance the Night,” with Gerwig making a cameo in the single’s music video.
Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice joined forces on “Barbie World,” which samples Aqua’s 1997 hit “Barbie Girl.” Charli XCX, Tame Impala, Lizzo, Haim, PinkPantheress, and more all appear elsewhere on the soundtrack. It arrives in full when Barbie hits theaters nationally on July 21.
