Boldy James was involved in a “serious two-car accident” in the Detroit metropolitan area this past Monday (January 9), according to his representative. The rapper was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and suffered broken vertebrae in his neck and orthopedic injuries. Following extensive surgery, James has been released from the intensive care unit and is now in stable condition.
In a statement, Boldy James and his family expressed their gratitude for “the incredible doctors and nurses that are taking care of him, and also to the communities’ emergency medical personnel and first responders.”
Last year, James teamed up with Real Bad Man for the collaborative album Killing Nothing. He also released the joint projects Fair Exchange No Robbery (with Nicholas Craven), Mr. Ten08 (with Futurewave), and Be That as It May (with Cuns). James opened for Early Sweatshirt and Action Bronson on their North American tour at the start of 2022, too.
James has steadily built a following over the past decade by churning out more than a dozen albums and mixtapes combined. Read about his ascent in “A Guide to Michigan Rap, 2020’s Most Exciting Regional Scene.”
