Tyler, the Creator is a namesake born from the musician’s role in founding the underground rap group Odd Future. But as he’s proved through multiple self-produced solo albums and his bold fashion brand Golf Wang, the moniker also speaks to his multi-disciplinary success. In 2011, Tyler explored a nihilistic, murky landscape on his studio album debut, Goblin, through violent alter-egos and assists from Odd Future cohorts like Frank Ocean and Syd. The multi-hyphenate’s songs have since matured to explore colorful production, the intricacies of solitude, and his sexuality, an evolution heard best on his excellent 2017 album Flower Boy.
